When to Take Maternity Photos & Why It Matters!
Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and hard fleeting chapters of life one could likely ever experience. If you're anything like the majority of darling mamas I meet, then you're probably just as lost and confused on when you should book your maternity photoshoots?
This is such a common question I get asked and it's honestly a really important one. Timing matters not only for your comfort, but for safety and how you want to remember this incredible season of life!
Generally the sweet spot is between 30 to 36 weeks. Here's why:
-Your bump has "popped" and is more round and photogenic.
Waiting too long can mean feeling extra tired, swollen, or even missing your session completely if baby comes early (yes, it does happen!). If you're high risk or expecting multiples, consider booking closer to 28-32 weeks since there's a higher chance of an early birth.
Now don't stress if you're past 36 weeks! You can still have your beautiful maternity session later in your pregnancy. It just might mean a little more flexibility and extra comfort planning.
*If you're drawn to a certain aesthetic like flower fields or warm autumn tones, consider what season that might fall into and reach out early!
At the end of the day the most important thing to consider when scheduling your maternity session, is how you're feeling. You're comfort will always be my top priority. So if you're feeling extra yucky and tired or have less mobility than expected, we can always opt to take you're photos sooner! I will always work with you to find the best time to take your maternity photos!
Make Sure You Check These Things Before the Shoot:
-Avoid Scrunchies or Hair Ties on Your Wrists: These can stand out too much.
-Check for Food in Teeth: or Around Your Mouth
-Ensure Clothing is Tucked In (this is mostly for men and their button up's)
-Steer Clear of Modern, Bulky Watches: They can stand out too much. Choose classic designs instead. (this is also mostly for men)
-Empty Out Pockets: Empty those pockets, we see the item outline buddy!
